Indications for 3D TMJ imaging

The examination is recommended for patients experiencing symptoms of jaw joint dysfunction:

• Pain and joint noises: Pain in the ear and jaw area, clicking, popping, or grating sounds during chewing and mouth opening.
• Limited jaw mobility: Mandibular deviation during opening, difficulty closing the mouth, or joint locking (trismus).
• Degenerative and structural changes: Detection of bony erosions, osteophytes, asymmetries, and arthritic joint changes.
