Cephalometric Imaging (Tele-X-Ray)
Precise 2D orthodontic diagnostics in downtown Belgrade. Imaging without an appointment, ready in minutes.
A cephalometric X-ray, known in dentistry as a tele-radiograph (telerendgen) or cephalogram, is a craniometric 2D skull radiograph taken in profile (lateral) or frontal (PA) view. This type of radiograph provides clear insight into the relationship between the upper and lower jaws, the position of teeth within the bone, and facial soft tissue profile.
Tele-X-ray is an indispensable and key diagnostic step in orthodontic treatment planning (braces or removable appliances), as well as in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
When do you need a cephalometric X-ray?
Your dentist or orthodontist will refer you for cephalometric imaging in the following situations:
- Planning fixed or removable orthodontic appliances: Enables the orthodontist to perform precise angular measurements and analyses required for proper treatment design and progression.
- Monitoring jaw growth and development in children: Timely detection of bite irregularities and facial skeletal development issues.
- Maxillofacial and oral surgery: Analysis of cranial bones and soft tissue profiles before and after surgical interventions.
- Facial profile assessment and aesthetic dentistry: Analysis of soft tissues and their aesthetic relationship to teeth and facial bones.
Advantages of imaging at Dental Diagnostic center
- Minimal radiation dose: Our latest generation digital units operate with extremely low radiation doses while strictly observing all protection measures (lead aprons and thyroid collars).
- No appointments and no waiting: Imaging is conducted immediately upon arrival and takes only a few seconds, with the complete scan ready in 5 minutes.
- Maximum precision and high resolution: Crisp detail of hard and soft tissue profiles allows your orthodontist to formulate the most accurate cephalometric analyses.
- Format of your choice: Receive the scan printed on high-resolution medical film, or optionally sent free of charge to your email, Viber, or directly to your dentist/orthodontist.
What does the imaging process look like?
- Preparation: Prior to imaging, all metallic jewelry (earrings, necklaces, piercings) and glasses must be removed from the head and neck area.
- Positioning: Our licensed radiologic technologist carefully aligns you with the machine using gentle ear rods (craniostat) to ensure the head remains completely still and properly oriented.
- Exposure: The radiation exposure lasts only 5–10 seconds, completely painless and unnoticeable.
